CFBREW 03 – Refactoring the ColdFusion Application

CFBrewContinuing down the road we’ve been traveling the past few weeks, we discussed refactoring our ColdFusion application. This discussion follows what we started last week after discussing a series of blog posts published by Aaron Longnion. We define what “refactoring” means to us, whether or not we need to do it, and how to plan the refactoring effort.

CFBREW 02 – Agile Software Development with Scrum

CFBrewIn our continued effort to chronicle the reorganization of our development processes, we chose to use tonight’s episode of the podcast to discuss Agile software development with Scrum. If you’ve never heard of it, listen in. If you’re a seasoned pro, listen in and give us some feedback. Our environment consists of quite a few urgent and high profile priorities and we’re curious to know how realistic it might be to implement an approach that requires discipline and cooperation.

Also on this episode, we begin what easily evolves into a two part discussion on refactoring a ColdFusion application. This discussion started after following a series of blog posts published by Aaron Longnion, who’s name I shamelessly butchered (sorry!). We’ll have plenty to discuss on this topic next week.

Please leave us a comment on this podcast or please contact us through the website. We’ll chat more next week about refactoring your ColdFusion application!

CFBREW 01 – Building a ColdFusion Team

CFBrewAlas, another ColdFusion podcast is born! We’re pleased to introduce ColdFusion Brew, a weekly podcast by a team of ColdFusion developers discussing CFML in business. We start the podcast off lightly with an introduction about our goals with the podcast, then jump into a chat about Brian Rinaldi’s post about the Adobe Community, followed by a discussion about ColdFusion Builder — it’s strengths and weaknesses — in what we hope is an objective look at the IDE as an business tool.

To check out the IIS Root setter we discussed in the podcast, check out Steve Bryant’s site on what it’s about and how to get it!

We’d like to stick around for a while and your feedback is an important part of our success. Please leave us a comment on this podcast or please contact us through the website. We’ll chat again next week!

Welcome to ColdFusion Brew

Welcome to the future home of ColdFusion Brew, the podcast about developing software applications in CFML, working on a team of software developers for a corporation, and the daily ins and outs of improving the processes of organized software development.

Collectively, all the participants of this podcast have been working professionally as software developers for years, specifically with ColdFusion.  A handful of us have experience on other platforms, such as PHP and Flex.  We all share something in common and that is that we want to make huge improvements to our process to be more organized and more productive!

We invite you to join us for each podcast and participate in our discussions!  Each podcast will be interactive in some way, either with live call-ins or a live chat.

Thanks for stopping by and check back soon for our first podcast!
